水洞溝遺址發(fā)現90周年紀念大會暨國際學術研討會開幕致辭

尊敬的各位領導、各位專家、各位朋友：大家上午好！

首先抱歉，我準備中英文混講了。

Dear friends and distinguished guests:Good morning!

First of all,I would like you to excuse my speaking with half Chinese and half English.

今天，我們在蜚聲中外的舊石器時代遺址-水洞溝聚會，隆重慶祝這一重要人類文化遺產地發(fā)現90周年，也借此吉日召開水洞溝國際古人類學術研討會、第六界亞洲舊石器考古聯合會學術年會、第十八屆“垂楊介與她的鄰居們”國際學術研討會和史前遺址博物館論壇。在此，我謹代表會議主辦單位之一----中國科學院古脊椎動物與古人類研究所，對大會的順利召開表示祝賀，對各位領導和嘉賓的蒞臨表示衷心感謝！

I would like take this chance to congratulate the opening of the international Symposium to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the famous Shuidonggou site . I am  also peased to learn that we are gathering here also to attend the 6th Annual meeting of the Asian Paleolithic Association and the 18th Suyanggate and Her Neighbors international Symposium,as well as the Forum for Prehistoric Museums . On behalf of one of the organizers, i would also like ,in paeticular ,to thank the participants from all around the world.

90年前，水洞溝遺址的發(fā)現和發(fā)掘是一個里程碑事件。它正式揭開了中國古人類和舊石器考古學研究的序幕，在東西方遠古文化間建立起緊密的聯系，同時將國際學者聚攏在一起，共同發(fā)掘和探討舊石器時代人類生存、遷徙、互動的遺存和問題。90年來，無數中外學者到此考察，無數研究課題聚焦在這里。水洞溝成為一處第四紀地質學和古人類學研究的殿堂和圣地，尤其在現代人起源與擴散、末次冰期間人類對氣候變化的生存適應成為學術熱點的今天，其價值與地位更加彰顯，受重視的程度日益提高。它與周口店、泥河灣一道，成為中國古人類學和舊石器考古學發(fā)展的引擎，不斷推動學科的前行、創(chuàng)新和國際學術的接軌。

The discovery of the Shuidonggou SIte 90years ago proves to be a historical event and a milestone in Cinese Paleolithic Archaeology .It has helped connet  the prehistorical culture in East and West .Over the years,scientists have frequently visited here and investigated such important issues as the origin and dis persal of modern humans and their adaptation to the paleoenvironmental background .Today,together with Choukoudian and Nihewan ,Shuidonggou has become one of the best known prehistorical sites in China.

進入新世紀以來，我所高興研究院率領的學術團隊與寧夏文物考古研究所的同事精誠合作，持續(xù)在遺址區(qū)進行調查、發(fā)掘和研究，開展多學科的協作，取得一系列新發(fā)現、新成果、新突破，被劉東生院士贊譽為“中國舊石器時代考古學文藝復興的標志”。我們將有機會在此研討會上傾聽他們的報告，分享他們的成就。

I would also like to congratulate Dr.Gao Xing and his team and their collaborators from the NingXia Archaeological institute for their continued excavations and multidiscipline work in this site ,wjhich has been highly productive and impressive .Personally ,I really look forward to seeing the site today.

近年來，在寧夏各級政府的關懷下，在文物工作者和旅游從業(yè)者的辛勤努力下，水洞溝遺址的管理、保護和建設事業(yè)取得了長足的進步，進入了良性的軌道。富有遺址特色、充滿時代氣息的水洞溝博物館已于兩年前落成，遺址各地點、各景點被修葺和開發(fā)利用，成為科普教育的基點和旅游參觀的熱地。

I would also like to thank the local governments in NingXia ,and those who have contributed enormouslyto he protection and efficient administration of the site.Without their great efforts,we would not be able to see the newly founded and fancy Shuidonggou Museum as well as other facilities that have attracted and educated visitors from everywher.

在此，請允許我對寧夏文物考古部門的領導、同事長期以來對本所在遺址開展發(fā)掘與研究所給予的支持和幫助表示衷心感謝！對水洞溝遺址所取得的各項進展和成就表示欽佩和祝賀！同時，對在遺址發(fā)現、發(fā)掘和研究方面做出過杰出貢獻的德日進、桑志華、裴文中、賈蘭坡等前輩大家表示崇高的敬意和深切的懷念！

Finally,I would like to thank the authority and many long colleagues from the NingXia Cultural Bureau for all the help they have provided to the excavation and research of my institute.At this historical moment,we should not forget some great names,Teihard de Chardin,Emile Licent ,Pei Wenzhong and Jia Lanpo. They deserve the highest respect from all of us.
